A town in the shadow of Brunel’s railway bridge (built 1859), and the main gateway to Cornwall. Saltash still retains some original features, including an 18th century Guildhall with granite pillars, and amongst the quaint old cottages you can find the House of Mary Newman, Sir Francis Drake's first wife.
Twinned with Plougastel-Daoulas, France.
