Topsham, Devon

Famed for its ship-building and maritime history, Topsham on the Exe Estuary, was once a larger port than Exeter itself. See Topsham from the water on board a river cruise, or wander around the picturesque quay and narrow alley ways with plenty of unusual shops and boutiques to explore. Summertime events include Topsham Town Fair and an International Town Criers competition. There is also a museum, bistros, pubs and restaurants serving fresh fish: bird watching: and lovely estuary and hillside views. Take the ferry across the river or simply explore the antique and curio shops.
