The beach itself is large with red sand and situated in a bay away from busy roads and surrounded by rolling parkland. It's safe to swim and though there are no lifeguard patrols, there are lifebuoys and warning flags. Facilities include pedalos and deckchairs for hire, shops, eateries and public loos. There's a pay and display car park close by; the nearest railway station with buses to Broadsands is Paignton.
