This traditional moorland town is situated within Dartmoor National Park and has old stone buildings and cottages which lie snug and sheltered under a wooded hill. It is one of the original stannary towns and now has a wide range of shops and a fine church. There's plenty of activity for the outdoor enthusiast and some lovely walks and fishing at Fernworthy Reservoir. Neighbouring Castle Drogo was the last castle to be built in England.
Twinned with Bretteville-sur-Liaze, France
