Axminster, Devon

Axminster, home of the famous carpet which bears its name, has all the charm and character of a typical unspoilt market town. Originally built on a Saxon town layout, Axminster features some fine Victorian buildings and winding streets well worth exploring. The Thursday cattle market is a jolly bustling affair with tarders stalls around the ancient, yet richly carpeted parish church (Minster) of St Mary's.
