Cornwall & Devon - for great holidays

Carousel

Director Rolf von Sydow. First broadcasted 13.11.1994. Cast:  Christiane Hörbiger, Barbara Wussow, Jacques Breuer.

Solid, reliable Nigel offers Prue Shackleton security and a comfortable future. Uncertain whether to commit herself, Prue turns down his invitation to meet his family and leaves to visit her beloved aunt Phoebe, an artist, in Cornwall. On the train she meets a sad little girl, Charlotte Collins, one of the many discarded children from broken homes, who is on her way to stay with her grandmother. In Cornwall Prue meets artist Daniel Cassens, a friend of her aunt's, who later confesses to Prue that he is apparently Charlotte's father, after his brief affair with her fickle mother years ago.

Prue is attracted to Daniel, but is stunned when he leaves Cornwall without warning. Meanwhile, as neither Charlotte's parents nor her grandmother are willing to provide the child with a home, goodhearted Phoebe makes an arrangement for Charlotte to stay with her. But to everyone's astonishment, Daniel returns with the necessary papers to adopt Charlotte. He has rented a cottage and asks Prue to stay with him. Nigel has lost and Prue is willing to share an unconventional life with Daniel.
