Truro – Capital of Cornwall (16.000 inhabitants) with youngest cathedral of the country (early English), Georgian terraces (Lemon and Boscawen Streets) and excellent shopping, especially antiques. Beautiful gardens nearby such as Trewithen Gardens and Chyverton Gardens.
It is less for the landscape than the city buildings that Truro features in many Pilcher films. In Boscawen Street they filmed “Wolken am Horizont”. Truro College appears in films like “Blossoms of Life”, “The long Road to Happiness”, “Doves in the Wind” and “Time of Perception”. In 2005, director Dieter Kehler used Truro's Library at Union Place to shoot the outside scenes of the London music conservatory in “Amazing Grace”. The inside scenes were shot in the Methodist Church. Truro airfield can be seen in “Above the Clouds”.
The house of Trewithen Gardens was changed into Blixton Manor for “Amazing Grace”. The private house is open to the public.
